Terms of Service
Last Updated: June 2026
Welcome to Fixer Appliance Repair Inc. (“Fixer,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). By using our website at fixerappliancerepair.ca or booking our services, you agree to the following Terms of Service.
1. Services
Fixer Appliance Repair Inc. provides appliance repair and installation services in Ottawa and surrounding areas. Service availability may vary depending on technician availability, weather conditions, traffic, part availability, and your location.
We service residential household appliances including refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ovens, cooktops, stoves, and microwaves.
2. Appointments & Access
Appointments may be booked by phone, email, or through our website.
While same-day appointments may be available in many areas, they are not guaranteed.
Customers are responsible for:
- Providing accurate contact information and service addresses
- Ensuring safe and reasonable access to the appliance
- Securing pets and maintaining a safe working environment
- Removing personal belongings or obstacles near the appliance when necessary
If a technician determines that working conditions are unsafe or inaccessible, service may be refused or rescheduled.
3. Cancellations, Rescheduling & Missed Appointments
Because our technicians reserve time, travel, and scheduling capacity for each appointment, customers are asked to provide at least 24 hours’ notice if they need to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
If an appointment is cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or if the customer is not available, cannot be reached, refuses service at the door, or fails to provide safe and reasonable access during the scheduled appointment window, a late cancellation or missed appointment fee may apply.
The late cancellation or missed appointment fee is equal to the applicable service call fee for the customer’s service area. For Ottawa-area appointments, this is typically the standard Ottawa service call fee. For extended service areas or long-distance appointments, the applicable service call fee may be higher due to travel time and distance.
This fee may apply even if no diagnostic or repair work is performed, because technician time and travel were reserved and the appointment slot may not be recoverable.
Fixer Appliance Repair Inc. may waive or reduce this fee at its discretion, including in cases of genuine emergencies, severe weather, hospitalization, or other circumstances beyond the customer’s reasonable control. We may also choose not to charge the fee if the appointment slot can be filled by another customer.
Repeated same-day cancellations, missed appointments, or last-minute rescheduling may result in refusal of future service or a requirement for prepayment before booking.
Cancellation or rescheduling requests should be made by phone, email, or another communication method confirmed by Fixer Appliance Repair Inc.
4. Diagnostic Fees & Estimates
A diagnostic or service call fee is required for the technician’s visit and inspection, regardless of whether the repair is approved or completed.
For certain extended service areas outside Ottawa, including but not limited to Perth, Smiths Falls, Rockland, Kemptville, and other surrounding locations, the diagnostic/service call fee may be non-waivable due to travel distance and service logistics.
In many Ottawa-area appointments, the diagnostic fee may be applied toward the final repair cost if the repair is approved during the same visit.
Any estimate provided before inspection is preliminary and may change after the appliance has been diagnosed.
Additional labour, parts, or repairs discovered during service may require updated approval before work continues.
5. Payments
All prices are listed in Canadian Dollars (CAD).
Payment is due upon completion of service unless otherwise agreed in writing.
We reserve the right to suspend or refuse future service for unpaid balances.
6. Parts & Delays
Repair timelines may vary depending on parts availability, supplier delays, shipping issues, or manufacturer backorders.
We are not responsible for delays outside our reasonable control.
Some replacement parts may be sourced from third-party suppliers or manufacturers.
7. Warranty
Fixer Appliance Repair Inc. provides a 90-day labour warranty on completed repairs unless otherwise stated.
Parts warranties are provided by the part manufacturer or supplier and may vary depending on the component installed.
Warranty coverage does not apply if:
- The appliance has been tampered with or repaired by another party after our service
- Damage results from misuse, neglect, improper installation, power surges, water damage, pests, or external causes
- The appliance develops unrelated failures after the original repair
Warranty claims must be reported within the applicable warranty period.
8. Customer Responsibilities
Customers are responsible for:
- Maintaining appliances according to manufacturer guidelines
- Disconnecting sensitive electronics if requested
- Emptying appliances of food, water, laundry, or fragile contents when appropriate
- Monitoring appliances after service for unusual performance or leaks
We recommend discontinuing appliance use immediately if abnormal behaviour occurs after service and contacting us promptly.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fixer Appliance Repair Inc. shall not be liable for:
- Food spoilage
- Water leakage or flooding
- Flooring damage
- Cabinet damage
- Loss of laundry or personal items
- Loss of use
- Delays caused by suppliers or manufacturers
- Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
We are also not responsible for failures caused by pre-existing appliance conditions, aging components, rust, corrosion, previous repairs, improper installation, or manufacturer defects.
Our total liability for any claim relating to a specific service visit shall not exceed the amount paid for that service.
10. Appliance Movement, Glass & Water Damage Disclaimer
Certain repairs or installations may require moving appliances, disconnecting water lines, or handling fragile components such as glass cooktops and oven doors.
While we take reasonable care during service, Fixer Appliance Repair Inc. is not responsible for:
- Damage caused by hidden corrosion or weakened plumbing connections
- Pre-existing cracks or weakened glass surfaces
- Damage caused by deteriorated flooring, cabinetry, or surrounding structures
- Existing water line failures or improper previous installations
Customers acknowledge that older appliances and plumbing connections may carry additional risks during repair or installation.
11. Refusal of Service
We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue service if:
- Working conditions are unsafe
- The appliance presents a health or safety hazard
- Abuse, harassment, or threatening behaviour occurs
- Required repairs are not economically reasonable
- Proper access cannot be provided
